Love the way you edited the second picture and how the back light isn't really shown, which is the whole objective of the project. You can improve your pictures by getting closer to the curtain & trying different angles.
The edit in the second picture is really cool along with all of the different colors. You can improve by making your photos just a little bit darker to make the silhouette really pop.
Your second pictures is awesome! The color/contrast are excellent and you have a great composition.
The first picture needs more white. Check the levels and adjust. Also you can either crop or use the clone stamp to get rid of the pole in the upper left corner. Having the pole there erases the illusion you were trying to go for.
